Every spring and summer, we throw out our warm clothes and bring out our light summer wear. And although it’s fun pull out our summer wardrobe, many people forget the most important thing they should wear every single day- sunscreen!

Back in 2014, several news agencies ran a story of a portrait artist, Thomas Leveritt, who did a study of the effects of going without sunscreen by taking photos with an ultraviolet camera which revealed the damage of the sun on someone’s skin that wasn’t readily visible to naked eye. It gave a visual to what several people have been saying for a long time, that we should be wearing sunscreen and taking care of our skin. The question then becomes what type of sunscreen should we use and what types of sunscreens work best. The rule of thumb that most dermatologists suggest when it comes to SPF levels is that it should be at least 30 SPF applied 30 minutes before exposure and reapplied every 2 hours. Here are a few options to consider for the best protection.

Natural Sunscreen
